Swim Levels and Class Schedules

Swim Lesson Levels

Waterbabies Program
Parent & Child classes for children 6 months to 36 months

Waterbabies (6-36months):

  1. Gentle introduction to water
  2. Water acclimation
  3. kicking
  4. songs
  5. games

Gentle introduction to submersion and breath control. Babies who can already move through the water are introduced to primary water skills.

Froggies (2 year olds who can swim a few feet)
Swim instructors work on getting the kids to swim 7 feet while starting to get an independent breath down.
(4:1 ratio in Froggies as parents stay on the deck.)

*All Waterbabies: Snug, reusable, cloth swim diapers are required for all students under the age of 3, even if they are potty trained. Swim diapers are available at the front desk.

Beginning Swim Students

Bubblefish ( 3 year old):
This course is for students who cannot swim. Instructors work on:

  1. Submersion
  2. back floats
  3. confidence

Goldfish (4-5 Years old)
This course is for students who cannot swim. Instructors work on:

  1. Back-floats
  2. Themed-based lessons
  3. Independent swim to 5 feet

Sea Horses
This course is for students who cannot swim. Instructors work on:

  1. Back-floats
  2. Swimming to 10 feet

Intermediate Swim Students

Starfish (3 year old)
These students can already swim 5 feet. Instructors work on:

  1. getting an independent breath
  2. confidence and independence in water
  3. Stroke and kicks

Catfish (3 year old)
These students can already swim 10 feet. Instructors work on:

  1. Back-floats
  2. increasing breath control
  3. Strokes and kicks

Sea Turtles (4 years old and up)
These students can already swim 10 feet. Instructors work on:

  1. Independent breath
  2. stroke and kick
  3. confidence

Sea Otters (4 years old and up)
These students can already swim 20 feet and have a roll over/side breath. Instructors work on:

  1. Breath control
  2. Stroke and kicks

Intermediate and Advance Swimmers
5 years old and up

Penguins: Swim 20 feet with breath. Instructors work on:

  1. Freestyle technique
  2. Rhythmic breathing
  3. Introductory backstroke

Seals: Swim 40 feet with several breaths. Instructors work on:

  1. Freestyle
  2. Backstroke
  3. Breaststroke

Dolphins: Swim 40+ feet. Instructors work on:

  1. Freestyle
  2. Backstroke
  3. Breaststroke
  4. Rhythmic breathing
  5. Dolphin kicks

Sharks: Perform rhythmic breathing and breaststroke. Instructors work on:

  1. Competitive backstroke & butterfly stroke for 80 feet

Hammerheads: Perform competitive backstroke and butterfly stroke. Instructors work on:

  1. Competitive backstroke
  2. Competitive freestyle
  3. Competitive breaststroke
  4. Competitive butterfly stroke

Pre-Team: By invitation only.

All classes above have a maximum of 5 students per teacher. Classes are 30 minutes in length, so please be on time. if a class has only one registered student, the class times may be changed.

Schedule of Swim Classes

Morning Classes: Every half-hour from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday. See office for the Summer AM.

Afternoon Classes: Every half-hour from 3:15pm to 6:45pm, Monday-Thursday.

How to Register for Swim Classes

  1. The office (575.523.1616) will assist you in finding just the right class for you: age followed by skill level.
  2. Pick preferred days and times
  3. Secure class request with credit card, cash, or credit.
  4. Complete Registration Form (From office or download)
