Our curriculum for recreational girls’ gymnastics was originally conceived in 1993, but has been improved and personalized over the years to fit our philosophy. For girls, we have the Over the Rainbow Program, including six skill levels for gymnasts to progress through. Classes are grouped first by grade 1st through 3rd and 4th through 6th grade and then by skill level.

Girls start at the Rockin’ Red level and move through each level at their own pace until reaching Purple Pizzazz, our most advanced recreational gymnastics class. All of our levels are based on USA Gymnastics’ Junior Olympic Program for levels 1-3, the gold standard for recreational gymnastics in the United States. All students receive daily encouragement and are awarded a report card for their accomplishments at the end of every term.

Girls train on all four women’s Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor. We offer two full-size Olympic floors, four high beams and two training beams, as well as a “star bar” set just for our recreation program. Our students have access to an in-ground trampoline and tumble track, foam pit, and climbing wall, where they will learn not only basic gymnastics skills but also introductory dance. Gymnastics helps to build strength, confidence, and character all while having fun. Plus, our coaches keep class lively by using games and drills to introduce and reinforce skills.

We host an annual recital, usually in June, where we encourage all our gymnasts to participate and show off what they have learned for their families.

Recreational Gymnastics for Boys

For recreational boys’ gymnastics, Gym Magic has three skill levels on our Iron Man Program: Level 1 (beginner), Level 2 (intermediate) and Level 3 (advanced). Boys train on the six Olympic men’s events (vault, high bar, pommel horse, floor, rings and parallel bars) right from the beginning; boys also get to use the traverse climbing wall, trampolines, foam pit and more!

Our boys’ curriculum is based on USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic standards, but also incorporates fun and games. Every other term, all gymnasts receive a ribbon and certificate for their achievements and persistence. Boys also have the option of performing with their classmates in our annual summer recital. Boys mastering our recreational curriculum can try-out for our Level 4 competitive team.

Beginning gymnasts benefit from the physical and mental changes fostered by the sport, gaining strength, flexibility, balance and coordination plus enhancing their confidence, sense of commitment and attentiveness. The dedication and perserverance needed by all gymnasts will prepare them for success in school and throughout life.
