Oz-some Fitness is AWESOME! Our program teaches children four fundamental aspects of fitness while incorporating a Wizard of Oz theme to keep exercise fun. Every class features cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility development and nutrition education to help kids get in shape, stay fit and gain self-confidence.

Oz-some Fitness is an AWESOME fitness program developed specifically for KIDS by people who specialize in KIDS, Gym Magic! Since 1993, Gym Magic has promoted fitness and well-being through their sports: gymnastics, swimming, dance and cheer.

Oz-some Fitness was developed through years of experience with these sports to create a fun, kid-friendly program that promotes overall well-being with an emphasis on fitness and weight management. We know kids respond better when they’re engaged and having fun. Therefore, our program offers plenty of variety, games and activities to keep them moving and involved.

Are your kids outside running and jumping? Do they play outside and ride their bikes around the neighborhood? Sadly, most parents say their kids do not; their kids are inside watching TV or playing computer games.

Research documents that today’s graduating seniors have more time logged into TV watching than the total hours spent in 12 years of school! Not only does this affect education, it affects the health of our youth and will eventually affect and overwhelm our nation’s healthcare system with the probable rise in obesity and its consequences. Incidentally, research also documents the close connection between physical movement and learning, especially during childhood when important sensory-motor connections are formed. To decrease movement during these formative years also impacts learning and academic success.

Now the Good News!!

Kids can have fun and experience success through physical movement. It doesn’t have to be drudgery. Our bodies and brains love to move; it’s part of our natural heritage just as learning and growing are natural outcomes given proper environments.

Gym Magic wants kids to adopt healthy lifestyles for life, not for just a short PE class. This means bringing knowledge and education into the program – nutritional information must be an integral part of the program.

Kids of different ages have different needs, so Oz-some Fitness features three levels. Each level offers exercises compatible with the strength, maturity and physical development of its students. All levels incorporate the key elements listed above, from warm-up to cool down. Our Oz-some Fitness levels are:

1st and 2nd graders

3rd through 5th graders

6th through 9th graders

Cardiovascular fitness and strength training are the focal points of each class. Our curriculum incorporates lots of variety to keep things fresh and on track to create change. Each lesson includes: warm-up, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility development, nutrition education and cool down.

Since Oz-some Fitness is for kids, our coaches provide detailed instructions and demonstrations for all exercises and pieces of equipment. We fully utilize over 10,000 sq. ft of air-conditioned, foam padded space dedicated to kids – with circuits, trampolines and more!

Every class features cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility development and nutrition education to help kids get in shape, stay fit and gain self-confidence! Our program is also steeped in integrative movement as we also focus on the movement/learning connection. Therefore, circuits, which challenge the vestibular system and balance, are incorporated so students develop greater overall sensory-motor integration as we know this promotes academics.

Variety is key to getting kids interested in fitness and keeping them exercising. Our staff creates a new circuit workout for students to enjoy every week, so kids can look forward to new activities. For our fitness circuits, Oz-some Fitness uses specialized equipment from gymnastics and standard exercise gear. Students can expect to use a wide variety of equipment for age-appropriate exercises.

With low student/teacher ratios, our coaches are able to spot and give corrections to each child. Students will learn correct technique for maximum benefit. Our staff is CPR and First Aid trained with a background in fitness and exercise. Instructors are trained in our Oz-some Fitness curriculum to provide safe and steady fitness progressions for all students.

STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, AGILITY

Gym Magic offers:
