Wiz Kids

WIZ KIDS is a new program for 3 to 5 year olds that meets twice a week for 3 hours per day. The focus of WIZ KIDS is offering a fun mix of gymnastics and integrative movement together with the traditional preschool activities (numbers, letters, coloring, social skills, songs, games and arts & crafts). This program was designed to meet the needs of families that don’t require or want all day or every day instruction, but who do want to offer their children an early experience of preschool concepts in a fun, active environment. Kids must be potty-trained to attend.
Neuroscience now recognizes that all “higher learning” depends to a large degree upon the health and vitality of the sensory and motor activity areas of the brain. And it is during the earliest years of life that these systems mature and become organized, providing a lifelong foundation for higher learning. The prime time for learning is, of course, early childhood, and it is this time that we wish to take full advantage of, and WIZ KIDS does just that!

WIZ KIDS is a program developed for 3 to 5 year olds that aren’t already involved in a preschool setting (may we refer you to Ashley’s Garden for a wonderful preschool setting if you want an all-day or half-day preschool), but want to prepare for preschool and develop skills that are fundamental to learning, i.e., movement and coordinated activities. So in WIZ KIDS, students will be exposed to the balance beam, bars, trampolines, Tumbl-Trak and tumbling basics for movement and coordination. These develop aspects of eye-hand coordination, foot-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills and rhythmic patterns that help with reading readiness. For classroom education: WIZ KIDS will be exposed to the basics of pre-academics such as letters, numbers, shapes, colors, patterns, taking turns, cooperating in groups, listening to stories, identifying body parts and following simple directions.

WIZ KIDS will meet every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30. Students must wear comfortable clothing and be fully potty-trained. See the office for more information. Classes will begin September 1st.
