Oz-some Fitness is AWESOME! Our program teaches children four fundamental aspects of fitness while incorporating a Wizard of Oz theme to keep exercise fun. Every class features cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility development and nutrition education to help kids get in shape, stay fit and gain self-confidence.
Cardiovascular fitness and strength training are the focal points of each class; our curriculum alternates emphasis between every other class. Each lesson includes:
Kids of different ages have different needs, so Oz-some Fitness features three levels of classes. Each level offers exercises compatible with the strength, maturity and physical development of its students. All levels incorporate the key elements listed above, from warm-up to cool down. Our Oz-some Fitness levels are:
Variety is key to getting kids interested in fitness and keeping them exercising. Our staff creates a new circuit workout for students to enjoy every week, so kids can look forward to new activities. For our fitness circuits, Oz-some Fitness uses specialized equipment from gymnastics and climbing in addition to standard exercise gear. Students can expect to use a wide variety of equipment for age-appropriate exercises:
Gym Magic wants kids to adopt healthy lifestyles for life, not just for when they have a fitness club membership, which means education must be an integral part of our program. Since Oz-some Fitness is for kids, our coaches provide detailed instructions and demonstrations for all exercises and pieces of equipment. With only ten students per class, coaches are able to spot and give corrections to each child. Students will learn correct technique for maximum benefit and minimum risk. Our staff is CPR and First Aid trained with a background in fitness and exercise. Instructors are trained in our Oz-some Fitness curriculum to provide safe and steady fitness progressions for all students.
Classes meet twice a week for one hour at a time and run year-round. Tuition follows our Term Calendar.
WHAT TO WEAR
Students should wear a t-shirt and shorts, warm-ups or sweats depending on the weather. A good pair of athletic running shoes and socks are also important. Long hair should be pulled back. And please do not wear jewelry (stud earrings are okay), and please leave your gum, candy, jeans and baggy pants at home.
